The Sun-Herald City2Surf presented by Westpac is not just Sydney's favourite sporting event, it is the world's largest run with over 80,000 registered participants each year - a greater number than the London and New York Marathons combined.
Since 1971 Sydneysiders have been joined by participants from all over the world, elite athletes rubbing shoulders with locals to run, walk or watch the 14 kilometre race from Hyde Park in Sydney's central business district to the finish at spectacular Bondi Beach. In 2013 more than $4 million was raised for charities across the country, including our official Gold Charities..
Public transport is the best way to get to the start line of the City2Surf and home again but be sure to plan ahead and allow extra travel time due to road closures and trackwork.
